•Register your new address with the ATO or at my.gov.au
•Change your mailing address by notifying your bank, employer, superannuation, subscriptions, doctors and other service providers, and family and friends

•Contact utility companies such as electricity, water and gas to advise them of your move and arrange connection at your new address
•Notify your insurance company and transfer insurance to your new house
•Pre pack and organise your items as far in advance as possible, for example disassemble and clean appliances
•Hire and book a moving company
•Arrange a cleaning company to clean your new house before you move in, depending on condition
•Collate all necessities to hand over to the new owners including all keys, manuals and warranties, security codes and contact information
If moving with pets:
•Update your pet’s registration and microchip information
•If staying in interim accommodation, make sure to book a hotel which is pet friendly
•Arrange a supply of a week’s worth of pet food and medication and make sure it is accessible, rather than packed away
•Keep pets calm on moving day by keeping them in a quiet room until the last moment
•Transport them in a crate or carrier in the car with you, don’t leave them alone in the car or the moving truck as they will be unsettled and likely distressed
•Set up a safe, quiet room in the new house with food, water, chew toys, litter box and other necessities and gradually introduce them to the rest of the house once the movers have left
