A young couple determined not to miss out on their dream home again snared a “unique” Greenvale house with a turret at the weekend.
The pair, who had been on the hunt for a property for 12 months and been outbid for other pads, splashed $871,000 on the five-bedroom house at 2 Cannes Court on March 23.
About 60 people attended the auction and watched the couple defeat three other bidders to win the keys to the grand Federation-style house.
Jason Real Estate’s James Mokdsi said the buyers were determined to secure the home.
“They were extremely competitive and did not hesitate or take any chances,” he said.
The couple was attracted to the size and style of the home with an eye-catching turret.
“They also loved the location of the house in a leafy pocket with great land value,” Mr Mokdsi said.
Priced at $720,000-$760,000, the 840sq m property sold well beyond the owners’ expectations.
“It was an emotional sale for the owners who had lived there for 22 years,” Mr Mokdsi said. “They are downsizing to another property in the area.”
A standout in the street, the house showcases decorative brickwork, an ornate return veranda, and a terracotta roof complete with a turret.
The interior is adorned with soaring ceilings, hardwood floors and a handsome fireplace.
“The floorplan was also a drawcard,” Mr Mokdsi said.
The design includes multiple living areas, a designer kitchen and five big bedrooms, including the palatial main with a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite.
A feature is the self-contained lower level that includes a kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living area, ideal for extended family members or independent children.
Mr Mokdsi said homes with character and style were selling well in Greenvale.
“Unique properties like this one are in hot demand,” he said.
